10 Best Places in the World to Get Married
78I've been to quite a few weddings in my day. Well, more like in the passed few years (lately they've been dropping like flies). And in that time I have discovered a key element that most weddings are missing: location. When you say your vows you have to do it someplace great. Even if the wedding doesn't last at least you'll have awesome pictures. So here’s my list of the best wedding locations.
10. New York
I could probably do an entire hub on New York wedding places, alone. It's a beautiful city that is also packed with beautiful spots to get married. Wedding locations are certainly not in short supply here. The Foundry, originally a 19th century metal foundry, now plays host to weddings, shows, corporate events, and photo shoots. Old exposed brick, modern steel; it's such an exquisite location. In Queens no less! Its capacity only holds about 125 so this is a smaller wedding for sure. With Central Park you've got a lot of options but there's only one spot for a view: the boathouse overlooking the lake. Plus you can fit double the people as the Foundry. Hmm...Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Chelsea Piers Lighthouse? I could go on and on. Also, the convenience of having vacation rentals all over the city means you don't have to worry about you family bitchin' that it's sooo expensive to stay in New York. New York needs to be on every “top wedding places” list.
9. New England
If you’re planning a wedding in autumn, one of the best choices would be the New England states, where you can attach the ball and chain under the backdrop of spectacular fall colors. You also have the added benefit of historical inns where you and your plus one can have a ceremony and begin your honeymoon. If you choose Rhode Island check out New Port. They rent mansions, such as the Rose Cliff, which are very often located right on the water or with large flower gardens on the premises. Another great choice would be Maine. There's a splendid place at Joseph's By the Sea, in Old Orchard Beach. This one should be on a lot more top wedding destinations lists.
8. London
And now for the world travelers. Let's take this thing across the pond. London has a lot of places that take weddings, some good, some bad. Eltham Palace is one of the good ones. The unique mix of styles makes Eltham one of London's most unusual venues. With its use of the Art Deco mansion, medieval Great Hall and gardens, you can enjoy a stunning wedding there. Its lovely grounds are great for photographs and drinks, while the unique interior provides an evocative backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. If you want a truly original way to get married try the London Eye. There you can get a private capsule decorated with flowers. The ceremony is timed so you'll exchange vows at the top of the wheel. You'll be pronounced husband and wife almost 400 feet above London. Hopefully, no one gets sick at that height!
7. Italy
So once you meet your hot Italian get married in Italy! Italy is known for its legendary architecture and romantic churches. It also is a city of love where lots of weddings take place. The churches of Verona, where Romeo and Juliet took was set, is a popular spot for ceremonies where couples hope to have a love as passionate and intense as the young Shakespearean couple. Or maybe they plan to commit suicide shortly after the ceremony. Who knows? But maybe you want a specific place to go. La Tartaruga Sabrina is an exclusive villa with a Roman country style setting. This location is suited for lovers of art and nature. In Spring the doors are open and the aroma of the flowers breeze right in, supposedly this helps calm any anxiety or overwhelming feelings. The open bar usually does the trick for me.
6. Cancun
Cancun is a hot spot for young couples and inebriated college kids to get married, as it's an unbelievable party city that makes for a great honeymoon. The nightlife is incredible, and it's easy to have a quickie wedding and honeymoon on a budget. Plus, there are tons of activities and trips/tours you and your guests can enjoy. There are too many places to list in Cancun to get married so I won’t list all of them. Mexico in general is amazing. As far as affordable wedding places goes this one should be on the top.
5. Jamaica
Jamaica has it all: beaches, rainforests, mountains and caves (not that I suggest you get married there). Plus, it is overflowing with tons of old and new Caribbean culture. It's a popular destination wedding location because the resorts host the ceremonies and receptions themselves and offer all-inclusive packages making the planning process simple and affordable for couples. The Negril Escape Resort and Spa is the best. This beautiful light house property is situated in the West End of Westmoreland Negril, Jamaica. There are many wonderful characteristics of this venue that would make an outside wedding the most perfect memorable experience and accounts for one of the best wedding locations. First, you’ve got the Light House Terrace surrounded by the ocean; it facilitates 400 Theatre Style, and 250 Banquet Style seating. Negril is known for breath taking sunsets and what’s more desirable than having a wedding in a cut stone terrace with a one of a kind sunset and wonderful tropical breeze. Next, the Captain’s Ballroom is famously known for wedding receptions, as it provides you with a 220 degree panoramic view of Negril West End cliffs and the Turquoise Caribbean Sea. The Blow Hole (sounds like the perfect place for a kinky exhibitionist couple) was found to be a perfect stone cut terrace for a small wedding; it also gives you the wonderful feeling of tropical ambience as the view of the ocean is superb. Most importantly the Blow Hole occasionally sprouts mists and gives you that alluring and natural experience. Or maybe a preview of your wedding night!
4. Paris
Maybe you’re surprised it isn’t number one. To me Paris is too easy. But that doesn’t change the fact that it is an marvelous place to get married. One of the most romantic cities in the world, Paris, France, is an incredible destination for a wedding. There is so much history that a bride and groom might choose to be married just about anywhere, and there's a story behind it that the couple can share with others and cherish forever. Paris is a nice place to visit, and since European travel is made so simple to access, the couple and guests can choose to take their vacation from one country to another easily, thus expanding their getaway. At the Paris Marriott Champs Elysées all you have to do is say what you want, and they will make it magically appear in their grand ballroom which seats up to 200 persons. There are even balconies viewing the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Place de la Concorde.
3. Berlin
That's right, Berlin. Maybe you can get the band to play at your wedding! Hotel De Rome, has proven to be one of the best places to get married. Envision the staff assisting you with every detail, as if they were your personal wedding planner. From the very start to the end, picture this, you are taking a trip to Hotel De Rome not knowing that you are about to be proposed to. Yes! They even assist with the proposal at dinner, and ensure that all your needs are met. That’s how awesome and all inclusive their service is. They are so ready to pamper you as they have special treatments at the Spa for couples before the big day. With history and beauty of the city this one ranks high on any top ten places to get married list because of the scenery surrounding the event.
2. New Zealand
I know what you’re thinking. A trek to Mordor is not going to be part of the after party. But while Aragorn and the elf and the dwarf were making their way through Middle Earth did you notice the scenery? Lord of the Rings was shot in New Zealand and it has since become a tourist hotspot. If you're looking for a romantic wedding location, fly by helicopter to the top of a mountain in New Zealand. Many wedding locations offer amazing views, but amazing doesn't even come close to describing the panoramic views of lakes, rivers, mountains, and the rugged New Zealand landscape. When it comes to top wedding destinations, New Zealand is hard to beat.
1. Florida
Surprised? That’s right, number one is here in your backyard. Orlando, Florida is the epicenter of diversion in the United States. For Disney fans seeking a princess wedding, they can find it at Disney World. Then they and guests can enjoy a vacation touring everything from Kennedy Space Center to park-hopping at Disney, Universal and the other amusement parks. Or take the Disney cruise, where you cruise around to the private Disney island and then enjoy passes to all the parks for a couple days. Four Seasons Palm Beach Resort, is an elite oceanfront venue with large spaces to conduct various types of social gathering making it one of the best wedding locations. The resort has experienced, top notch wedding planners, who will gladly assist to make your dream come to life in the sunny state. If you aren’t into the Disney thing there are hundreds of places along the coast to get married. Most of all, the even climate will keep the guests happy. And with vacation rentals across Florida it’s even more incentive to have a big wedding with everyone you know.
